Igor Geshelin

IMG_5585 The former Soviet Union’s… gift to Halifax.

Having relocated to Halifax from Odessa, Ukraine in 1995 with his family, Igor has made this city his home ever since. The initial move may not have been his choice – eight year olds seldom have such decision-making power, but remaining in Halifax was certainly Igor’s call. While attending Dalhousie University to obtain his Bachelor of Commerce, Igor started learning the mortgage business under the tutelage of Scott Bentley through the Co-Op work placement program. The two ultimately partnered to grow The Bentley Group, Premiere Mortgage Centre’s top producers in Atlantic Canada since joining the firm in 2009.

He also became involved with the local dance scene, using his unique ability to combine entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen and the performing arts led to the founding of an organization called Concrete Roots, which provided youth engagement through breakdancing and after-school programs and events. Concrete Roots went on to win the Halifax Chamber of Commerce ‘New Business of the Year’ award in 2010 and still flourishes to this day.

Being deeply involved in Halifax through the arts scene, the real estate and business community, Igor’s appreciation for this city and its endless potential continues to grow.  A firm believer in supporting local businesses, Igor works in the heart of Halifax’s downtown core, just steps off of Spring Garden Road, and frequents the many local establishments that feed his food addiction (pun intended). He is excited to share his passion for this city and its real estate with his clients, many of whom are Russian-speaking newcomers to Halifax. His fluency of the Russian language helps them feel at ease in their new home, with a great mortgage to boot.

In his free time Igor tries to stop his pug Otis from destroying his couch more than he already has, and travels to expand his horizons.
